Adam Stott: There are three foundational skill sets that you need to have in place in order to create massive success as a business owner and actually just get yourself in the place. Where you can get started. So if you’ve been considering starting a business, but for whatever reason, you can’t seem to get it off the ground, you’re lacking one of these three things. So the three are very simply beliefs. The actual belief that you can do it. Perhaps you are suffering right now from a place where you want to start a business, you want to escape your nine to five. You want to go and build a business, or you want to create more success, but you’ve got this nagging thing on your shoulder. It’s just saying, oh, maybe you can’t do it. You can’t go and get the success you want in your life and that might be driving you crazy cuz you’ve got a burning desire to succeed. But you’ve got this monkey on the should telling you that you can’t do it. And really putting that doubt in. That all comes down to your belief system. And actually it’s very, very simple. To change your beliefs quickly and put things in place that can allow you to start and grow. And the first thing you need to do if you want to start a business, is you’ve got to work on your belief system. You’ve got to erode negative beliefs and self-doubt and actually build in new beliefs that you are saying, I can do this. I will do this. I must do this. I will succeed. I will not fail. I will try. I will continue to push and you got to really start to build that belief system up in a really, really positive way.
Now the second thing, maybe you’re in a place where you’re like, Hey, I’ve got the beliefs down Adam, that’s great. I’ve got one of the building blocks that I need to start my business. You know, what else do I need in order to go and get started? Well, the second one is you’ve got to become a big action-taker. This is the thing that far too many people do. Far too many people sit on the fence going, oh, I’m going to work on my product. I’m going to, you know, I’m going to work on this spreadsheet, I’m going to work on this, I’m going to work on that and all they ever do is they do the behind-the-scenes work rather than the action-taking work to grow a business. Now the action-taking work to grow a business is going out there and getting your message to market. It’s going out there and selling your products and services. It’s going outbuilding the relationships with you need in order to succeed. So you massive Action taker and you got to start saying yes to opportunities.
Many people never say yes to opportunities because they’re afraid. Fear paralyzes them and keeps them stuck. But if you want massive success in business, you got to be a big action taker. And really the analogy I use is this, right? The more decisions you make, the more steps forward you take, the more that you progress forward.
Now, let’s say you make 10 decisions and you go 10 steps forward and you’re moving forward, you’ve gone 10 steps forward, and then you get two of those decisions wrong. What happens? Well, you’re going two back, you’re still eight forward. So you got to start making those decisions, taking those actions, and then when you take another 10 steps forwards, then you’re 18 steps forward because you’re an action taker. So you got to look at what decisions have you been putting off? What is it you know that you need to do that you keep procrastinating on? What is it you need to take action on and just get done? And when’s the best time to get things done right now! You got to take these actions quickly. You got to move forward as fast as possible, and with the right belief system, with the right action taking, you have got two of the key ingredients to get in your business going and getting it going fast.
Now, the third ingredient that you need to become a super successful. Business owner and to create massive growth in your life and in your business is you need strategies. Too many business owners are tacticians. Tactics are, I’m going to do one thing to get one thing, and you keep doing one thing, hoping for one thing back, do one thing, get one thing back, do one thing, get one thing back. What you need is strategies and frameworks to put in place to help you to grow for the long term.
